Elephant Closeup, Eating

Size: 800x1000mm - (32x39in)
Unframed
Stretched canvas, deep edge

This elephant caught Cardin’s eye while he was at the Kruger National Park. This game park is very popular and has lots of wildlife in their natural habitat. All elephants are herbivores which means that they consume only plant life. Due to their large size they can get food from the ground all the way up to high areas of trees. They are also very creative and should they not be able to reach what they want on a tree they are not averse to shaking it till the fruit drops or even pulling it out of the ground. They can graze up to 16 hours a day and this could be because they only digest about 40% of what they eat.
